Moosehead Lake is the Shinning Star of Maine and is the largest lake in one state east of the Mississippi.
Moosehead Lake is 40 miles long and 20 miles wide and has much incredible scenery, Mount Keno rises over 300 feet above the surface of the lake.
Moosehead attracts sportsmen from all over for it's excellent fishing of Landlocked Salmon, Brook Trout and Togue ( Lake Trout ). Moosehead Lake is also popular for ice fishing.
Moosehead Lake area also has many other places to fish. On the east side in the town of Kokadjo is the Roach River, a catch and release fly fishing only river which is very popular in the fall during Landlocked Salmon and Brook Trout spawning. On the west side of Moosehead is the east outlet of the Kennebec River, a 31/2 mile stretch of fly fishing only, famous for Landlocked Salmon and Brook Trout. The west outlet of the Kennebec River is noted for it's smallmouth fishing. The Moose River in Rockwood has good fishing for Landlocked Salmon and Brook Trout all season.
